Our Story

Sarah’s Point of View

The start of Junior year at USC was one to remember. School had just started, I was settling into a new apartment with a new roommate. One night, my roommate asked if she could invite a friend over. I didn’t have any plans so I didn’t object. Next thing I know, some guy named Garret was walking through my door. The second we made eye contact I knew he was special, and his eyes! My goodness, his green eyes got me. The rest of the night was history. It took Garret over 2 months to finally ask me to be his girlfriend. But once he did, we were inseparable. Some of my favorite memories with Garret were spent going to concerts. We have been to see Hardy, The Goo Goo Dolls and Dierks Bentley. Another favorite time was when we took a trip to Tennessee to see family friends and catch the football game! Garret and I love spending days on the boat, cheering on our Gamecocks, playing with Grizzly, and hunting together. But one of our most favorite thing to do is take road trips down to the Keys. The Florida Keys has become one of the most special places in my heart. Mainly because that is where Garret asked me to marry him! It was December 18, 2023 and we were visiting his parents the week before Christmas. Mrs. Debra had been asking me for weeks where we should take family pictures (we take them every year) and what color scheme (for our clothes) we should go with. Little did I know, I was planning my engagement! Garret had perfectly planned every detail down to the ring. It was the easiest decision I have ever made! I am so fortunate and grateful to have this man by my side and I cannot wait to call him my husband♥︎

Garret’s Point of View

Sarah and I met during our time at the University of South Carolina. One evening I decided to visit her apartment, where I was under the impression that I was just stopping by. What was meant to be a brief introduction turned into hours of conversation. I was instantly hooked. I canceled all my plans for that night, her shyness paired with genuine curiosity about my stories made me feel special, and her laughter at all my jokes (even the less than funny ones) made me feel something I had never felt before. From the first night we met, we were inseparable. Our time together in college was filled with late night study sessions and countless late night adventures around Columbia, including many memorable Saturdays at Willy B. I knew Sarah was the one for me because she instantly became my best friend, and let me tell you she is the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She showed me kindness, love, compassion and truth. She is everything I could have ever hoped for in a partner, and I realized I couldn't imagine my life without her. On December 18, 2023, I took a significant step in our journey together and asked her to be my wife.
